The Mental Illness of the Middle East - Scapegoat Israel
Topics: Understanding IslamThis article in the New York times hones in on the mental psyche of the Middle East - an inability to accept responsibility for terror in the world, and making Israel the scapegoat for all the acts of terror around the world.
Even in Jordan, where moderate imams soundly denounce the action of the terrorists, they are not able to accept that a Muslim could have been responsible for the killing of their own people. That is why so many, especially in the town where Zarqawi lived before embarking upon his career in terror, constantly blame Israel for everything that goes wrong.
It is as if the Middle Eastern people suffer from a mental illness, or at least they have not matured because they are incapable of accepting responsibility for the actions of terror around the world. It is all too easy to claim that the strife has been caused by Israeli agents, or Christians, or the U.S.; anyone is at fault except militant Muslims. Last month in Egyptm there was even strife between Muslims and Christians, because a video was purported to have denigrated Muslims.
"While it appears that most Jordanians have accepted that Mr. Zarqawi was involved - with many saying they are sickened by his actions - there is little criticism for those who scapegoat Israel. A former prime minister, Tahir Masri, who said it was clear that Israel was not involved in this attack, said he understood why so many people blame Israel."
When Muslim residents of Alexandria in Egypt tried to attack a Coptic church last month after word spread that a play held in the church two years earlier denigrated Islam - and that the play was being distributed on videodisc - one local member of Parliament charged publicly that Israel was behind the strife.
"Israel is the only country in the region that does not want Egypt to be stable," said Muhammad al-Badrasheni, the member of Parliament. "It wants to cause sectarian strife that would result in international intervention like what is happening in Iraq now."
These kinds of people don't belong in the Parliament since they lack the common sense God gave a house cat, the immaturity, to look beyond the the poison spewed by imams from their pulpits, incapable or unwilling to accept that their own system has generated the current mindset in Muslim countries.
These same people even believe that there were no Arabs involved in the attack upon the USA on September 11, instead they blame Israeli agents. They lack the mental capacity to be leaders within the world.
This is the real problem with Islam as a system of government. It is a theocracy, that is church and state are not separated. The people are led to believe that this is the best and only system of both government and religion. They are happy to allow the imams control the most private portion of their lives. The state controls the people, and then at the home level we find that the male of the household controls his wives as though they were slaves.
If anyone says anything about Islam, they see it as a personal attack. Again this shows the mental malaise of the people, since they are incapable of separating themselves from a religion that is truly an enslavement of the people.
Who knows what will happen next? At least in Jordan the leadership appears both stronger and more mature, than in the other Middle Eastern countries. The leaders in Jordan are not afraid to round up suspects - especially those who are known to be involved with terrorists, and to question them about those responsible for the deaths of at least 57 people. The bride and groom who have lost their fathers in those blast recognize that these people have a different agenda. They are right when they say that the people responsible are not involved in Islam, but those that blame Israel, have a self imposed blindness to the truth.
