Public Sees Democrat's War Criticism As Hurting Troops Morale
Topics: Political News and commentariesA new Cook Political Report/RT Strategies Poll finds 70 percent of those surveyed believe that criticism of the war by Democratic senators hurts troop morale and 44 percent think morale is hurt "a lot." Even self-identified Democrats agree, with 55 percent believing the criticism hurts morale.
Apparently, the poll also found 49 percent believe that troops should come home only when the Iraqi government can provide for its own security, and only 16 percent support immediate withdrawal, results that we shouldn't find surprising. You'll recall that on Nov. 24, The Washington Times reported on a survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press that revealed a marked disconnect between the perceptions of the general public and many of the so-called opinion leaders (I believe you'll find that they're refering to the vast majority of the MSM).
Negative press coverage of the war in Iraq in recent weeks has emphasized rising pessimism among the American public about the conflict. But a new survey found that 56 percent of the public thinks that efforts to establish a stable democracy in the country will succeed. To which I add that I can't think of anyone that want's the troops home sooner than those of us with kids and loved ones in Iraq and Afghanistan, but this "War is Real," and it's an important component of, "The West's Last Chance" to defeat the Islamist's agenda and it's accompanying terrorism, else we all face a much different world without the individual freedoms and democracy that the West now enjoys.
