New York College Student Attacked And Killed In Belize
Topics:An autopsy has confirmed that a New York City college student who was backpacking in Belize was strangled to death. Julia Minard, 20, had taken a semester off from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo., to travel through Guatemala and Belize with a group of backpackers, and was found last week outside a village near the Guatemalan border, in her underwear, with her neck and arms bruised.
Her attacker, Agripo Ical, followed Julia out of a bar in a small village, tried to rape her, and when he wasn't successful with that, killed her when she struggled. The killer has given a full written statement, which has been witnessed by a justice of the peace.
So, let me think about this for a moment; a young American college age woman goes backpacking in Belize, is attacked by an assailant that tries to rape her, and gets murdered when she struggles.
Yep, add Belize to my list of places in the Caribbean that I wouldn't send a daughter on vacation.
