Malaysia - Chinese woman is stripped naked and humiliated in prison
Topics: Understanding Islam
We talk about the abuses of Abu Gharib (perspective here) and then close our eyes to the torture and humiliation methods used by Arabs and other Muslim countries. This is a scandal that has rocked Malaysia
The Malaysian police have been profiling young Chinese women for charges of being involved in vice. Malaysia is a Muslim country. The young Chinese women are most likely Buddhist. That means that the Muslim police force sees them as being inferior in the first place.
Perhaps we should keep in mind that whatever rarely happens in places like Guantanamo Bay, or Abu Gharib - is for the most part, relatively minor to what Islamic governments routinely do around the world. They behave as hypocrites, acting as though what is done by the U.S. is so shameful and that it's such a major offense to desecrate a Koran (even if it happened, which it didn't), however, they are the same ones who have banned the use of a Bible, and who insist that all Christians, Buddhists, Hindu and other "pagans" either submit to Islamic rule, including conversion, or risk being tortured and killed. They take to the streets in protest against the Americans, English and Australians, because we are insisting upon not caving in to terrorism and Islam, and they make false claims that we allegedly are giving Muslims a hard time

Their press seems relatively out spoken and the story is getting the publicity it should.

Yes, it deserves to get lots of bad press. If you look carefully you can see that the policewoman in the background is dressed as if she is a Muslim. The majority in Malaysia are Muslim and they had already turned on the Christians and Buddhists in the past. This is a renewal of that previous action.
At the same time, I want to point out that in Indonesia when trouble erupted in the Aceh Province and Sulawesi in the past, the Muslims murdered and raped the Chinese Christians. It was a two pronged religious-ethnic attack. The Muslims continue to deny that they were to blame for what happened. The truth? They had declared jihad and they went in to these Christian villages in order to force the Christians to either convert to Islam or get out. The atrocities of that period were every inch as bad as some of the stories that emerging again in Indonesia.

Maggie:
What are you posting? Some 10% of the population of Malaysia is Chinese. Most Chinese reside in the major metropolitan areas. They are known as Overseas Chinese; however, they are Malaysian in every respect by their passports. Most Oveseas Chinese are not Christian. Malaysian laws are quite brutal compared to Western standards, because of their roots in the Koran. To my knowledge, however, Malaysians of Chinese ancestry are tried under the non-Muslim laws of Malaysia (two separate courts).
My concern here is why you are employing the word jihad against the Overseas Chinese in Malaysia.
Second, the trouble in Aceh, Indonesia pits Muslim against Muslim. I cannot say for certain, but I do not believe that many Chinese reside in Aceh. If there are any Overseas Chinese there (Banda), they are most likely not Christians.
With Aloha,
Harry

It is true that Chinese Christians don't consititute the majority in the Chinese migrant society, however, they are notheless a significant part. Of the 20-30% of Malaysians who are of Chinese descent, around 20-30% are Christians, and of the 10% of Indonesians who are of Chinese descent, around 30-40% are Christians. As a Chinese Christian oversea, I am amazed at the plethora of eminent Indonesian and Malaysians missionaries in here in America. My pastor is an Indonesian himself.
My theory on the persecution is thus, the Chinese migrate to these Muslim dominated lands. They live their life and practice their religion. To the Chargrin of the Muslim majorities, the Chinese would rather convert from Buddhism to Christianity rather then Islam. It seems to them an insult, and therefore, they persecute Christians, which in cases of Malaysia and Indonesia are most likely Chinese.
