Jordan turns its back on Zarqawi
Topics: War on Terror - the issues.Until now, Jordanians supported the insurgency Iraq, but the attack upon Jordan carried out by associates of Zarqawi has led to a change of heart in Jordan. Instead of supporting the insurgency in Iraq, the Jordanians took to the streets in support of king and country.
Instead an attitude of blaming everything upon Israel, common among many Muslims, the people of Jordan have been mature enough to place the blame where it belongs. If this demonstration against terrorism gets repeated across the Muslim world, then we we will have a sign of real hope - for reconciliation and peace between what have been Muslims and Jews, and perhaps between those Muslims that reject militant Islam, and Western civiliation.
The motivating force for the change seems to be that the Jordanians have had a reality check. Now that they have been attacked, they finally understand the real issues. It's the way of militant Islam and terrorism, and along with it murder and mayhem, or the way of peace and "real" tolerance for and among all of the world's citizens. There is no room on our planet for those that would force others to believe in Islam, or to live under sharia. And such a life, is no life at all.
