Jordan calls for war on extremism

Topics:

At last we have the voice of reason from King Abdullah of Jordan. He has called for a war on extremist views and he has stated that he will continue the democracy process in Jordan. There is no turning back from this movement.

King Abdullah made these comments to the incoming Prime Minister:

King Abdullah said Jordan's reforms were "irreversible" and the suicide attacks would not halt them.

"At the same time, it reaffirms our need to adopt a comprehensive strategy to confront the Takfiri culture," he said.

Takfiris believe contemporary Muslim society has reverted to a state of unbelief (kufr) and thus consider legitimate both rebellion against the state and acts of violence against Muslim citizens.

The king wants Mr Bakhit to "not only deal with the security dimension, but also the ideological, cultural and political spheres to confront those who chose the path of destruction and sabotage to reach their goals".

He also called for a "relentless war on all the Takfiri schools, which embrace extremism, backwardness, isolation and darkness and are fed on the ignorance and naivety of simple people."

The Amman attacks have put King Abdullah's rule in the spotlight
He said fatwas, or religious decrees, issued by Takfiri schools constituted a threat to Jordan's society and its interests.

It seems to me that King Abdullah II is a very rounded individual who has the best interests of the people of Jordan at heart. His new Prime Minister is the former ambassador to Israel. He is a man who has experienced what llife can be like under a democracy and modernization.

King Abdullah is right the Takfri schools are working towards keeping the people in a backward condition. If they are not kept in a backward condition then the mullahs fear that they will continue to lose their power base. This is a part of the problem with the practice of Islam and it is also a part of the reason why Islamic states must modernize. The ordinary people in an Islamic state are poor and backward. The governments that have imposed sharia have not implemented the means by which poor people receive some form of assistance when they have no other alternatives. Their society is no different from the society that was embraced at the time that Jesus walked the earth. In those days the disabled were forced to be beggars because the welfare state did not exist.

Hooray for King Abdullah II. May he be successful in implementing these reforms and ridding Jordan of the terrorists who occupy the territory of Jordan. May he succeed in capturing and bring to justice Al-Zarqawi.
