HarryTho 11/16 Natalee Holloway Update And Commentary

Topics: Natalee Holloway

Before we cover a few news items, let's recap the Skeeter tapes for a moment, and then get on with life and move to more useful and interesting matters.

There has been much time wasted discussing the tapes of a conversation between Jamie Skeeter and Deepak Kalpoe. Let us review these tapes tonight.

As the story goes, Jamie Skeeter invited Deepak Kalpoe for a meeting within his hotel room in order to discuss possible book publishing opportunities. Deepak Kalpoe, evaluating his potential for economic success with the Internet Cafe in Oranjstad, Aruba, accepted Jamie Skeeter's invitation. In order to ease the conversation, Jamie Skeeter lavishly inundated Deepak Kalpoe with alcohol. Naturally, the conversation with a person under the influence of alcohol became accommodating. In a similar fashion in which the Twitty-Holloway camp decries sexual assault of their daughter while she was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, Jamie Skeeter perpetrates his infringement of Deepak Kalpoe's rights. Yet, strangely, no one, I mean absolutely no one, whispers reservations about the manner in which Jamie Skeeter takes advantage of Deepak Kalpoe. Apparently, advantage taking only becomes abhorring when it involves a young, white woman from Alabama whose family is tied to wealth and lofty politicians.

Now come the tapes. Jamie Skeeter taped the conversation between Deepak Kalpoe and he in a manner in which the ultimate medium became his computer hard drive. Though I am not privy to all the intricacies of taping conversations, I suspect that the original taping occurred on a more versatile medium which was then loaded into Jamie Skeeter's computer hard drive. Technically, this loading process could have been adulterated. What now resides on Jamie Skeeter's hard drive may well be something other than the conversation that actually took place between Deepak Kalpoe and Jamie Skeeter. Frankly, hearing the anomalies in the conversation on the tapes, aired on American television, hint that some editing took place.

When the original tapes were requested by the Araban authorities, via the FBI, Jamie Skeeter, a professional investigator (I believe) sent copies of his recordings. As a professional investigator, Jamie Skeeter should have known (culpable inefficiency) what the FBI required in order to authenticate his conversation with Deepak Kalpoe. Yet, he chose to send copies! Why?

When the FBI received the copies, they took much time evaluating the tapes and only when prodded extensively did they forward these copies of the tapes to the Aruban authorities. Certainly, the FBI appreciated the sensitivity of these tapes. Yet, they offered no conclusion to their evaluations and merely mentioned a request for Jamie Skeeter's hard drive. Yet, again, to the best of my knowledge, they have not acted upon acquiring Jamie Skeeter's hard drive. Coincidentally to the FBI's request for Jamie Skeeter's hard drive, the Dutch Forensic Institute (DFI) in Holland has placed the Jamie Skeeter tapes on the back-burner for evaluation. Why?

The Jamie Skeeter tapes provide no evidence for the case of Natalee Holloway's disappearance. Both the FBI and DFI appreciate the appraisal of the Jamie Skeeter tapes, and they acknowledge that Deepak Kalpoe remains a suspect in the case. If the FBI and DFI make their findings public, Deepak Kalpoe can commence action against Jamie Skeeter and all the USA media sources who aired excepts of Jamie Skeeter's conversation with Deepak Kalpoe.

In essence, the silence from the FBI and the DFI harbinger that the Jamie Skeeter tapes are deficient. When Deepak Kalpoe is released as a suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, I suspect legal Armageddon will ensue.

Moving to a few news items, on this night of mid-week respite from our usual extensive Natalee fair, the boycott idea doesn't seem to be working where it began, in Alabama (hat tip - Aruba Truth):

Associated Press: Boycott Will Have No Impact
The Clarion Ledger
The Associated Press
Experts: Little Impact Expected After Boycott Call
November 12, 2005

Gov. Bob Riley's call for a tourist boycott of Aruba, where a Mississippi native has been missing since May 30, had little or no immediate impact and is unlikely to deter trips to the Caribbean island, travel experts said.

"From a longer-term standpoint, as travelers we have a relatively short-term memory, whether it's terrorism or hurricanes or other events that cast a negative light on a destination," he said.

While the Holloway case is tragic, he said, "it's seen as an isolated incident."

"It's not going to be a short-term effort," Emerson said. "He doesn't just plan on making an announcement and that's it."

But those who research boycotts say this one may be a futile effort.

"No, it won't work. It's pretty much like a warning," said Usha Haley, professor of international business and director of the Global Business Center at the University of New Haven.

Frendreis, who called Riley's announcement "a symbolic gesture," said it's unlikely that one family's tragedy would prompt political moves in other states.

Steve Cape, a spokesman for Springdale Travel in Mobile, said his agency hasn't had any Aruba trip cancellations because of Riley's call for a boycott.

Point made, and if it doesn't even work in Alabama, where is it going from there?

From AOL News - we learn that the "Yellow ribbons coming down in Alabama."

Friends and relatives held a brief ceremony signifying the removal of the ribbons - an omnipresent show of support in this cloistered, wealthy Birmingham suburb - to let the community know it was OK with Holloway's family for supporters to begin moving on.

As dozens of people placed bows in a big yellow box outside City Hall, many also signed a statement pledging continued support for Beth Twitty, Holloway's mother, in her search for her daughter.

While Riley said he would write the nation's governors asking them to join in a nationwide boycott, an aide said Wednesday letters making the request had yet to be completed.

Even the diehards of Mountain Brook, AL realize that this case is over. Governor Riley has seen the light, as well.

We then have Rita Crosby of MSNBC News discussing "vicious lies" circulating in Aruba that may have a deleterious effect on the case of Natalee Holloway's disappearance.

Apparently, rumors abound on Aruba that Natalee Holloway was found alive and well in Mexico. Arlene Ellis-Schipper feels that the rumor may have come from a phone call received by Beth Twitty by a caller claiming to be Natalee Holloway. Arlene said she will not speculate on the identity of the caller; however, she is hopeful.

Dave Holloway was re-aired, and he repeated his disbelief that the caller was his daughter.

Rita then brought on Vito Colucci, investigator, who confirms that sex slave trade is active in the Curacoa-Venezuela area(where do they find all these people?) ; however, in reviewing the case, he felt the money remains a good bet on the three suspects being involved in some manner, since they have been changing their stories. Vito distrusts the Aruban investigators' competence in case of this magnitude.

Arlene retorted that the investigation is active and moving forward. She cited some 12,000 pages of documents relating to the case that investigators are perusing over. She discounted that the three new members, assigned to the investigative team, have brought new life to the case. She said that new members have been added all along to refresh the case.

Lastly, Judy Gaiser of Alabama discusses the removal of the old and dirty ribbons for Natalee.

Dan Riehl has a few items of interest. Another Enduring Mystery in the Natalee Holloway Story

Who slipped the shot of 151 to private dick T. J. Ward that keeps him yammering on so long and still so uninformed, even after he's no longer on the Twitty payroll? And WXIA has the nerve to call it an exclusive? Hint - Publishing nonsense noone else will isn't an exclusive, it's picking up the scraps.
And also: WaPO Disses Holloway Story And Cable News
Seems they went a bit out of their way to make the point that even at the height of the cable news coverage on the Natalee Holloway story, relatively few Americans were as tuned in as some might have thought.
And lastly - The Joe Mammana Angle To which I have no comments, Dan handles it well enough on his on.

Wrapping up for tonight, clearly, the Skeeter tapes are deficient. Surprisingly, no one in the Twitty-Holloway camp, clamoring for prosecution for the alleged taking advantage of Natalee under the influence of alcohol, has whispered a peep in defense of a similar incident involving Deepak Kalpoe. This includes all the puppet lawyers filling the backdrops of the cable news media. I find that most troubling.

Interestingly, we heard from Rita Crosby and Arlene Ellis-Schiper tonight that Beth Twitty has some reason to believe that the caller from Mexico was her daughter or a friend of her daughter's in dire straits. If she is in Mexico, we should have her back soon and be able to unravel the mystery of her disappearance. As of tonight, I am not quite certain who should be more concerned, the suspects or the Mountain Brook mob.

And in closing, let's have a question. Does anyone find it strange that once the yellow ribbons started coming down in Mountain Brook, AL, a mysterious telephone call comes from Mexico claiming to be from Natalee?

Aloha for tonight!

Yes, Harry I find it very strange ideed that as the yellow ribbons come down that a mysterious phone call comes in from a supposed Natalee. I think better put is called trying to keep a dead story alive. Unfortunately this family will stop at nothing to beat this story to death. They are afraid the holidays will take away from the Natalee case, so more mysterious thing will continue to creep in. On one hand they accuse the boys and Joran and on the other hand they fall into Dr. Phil's theory of sex slave. Hopefully the public will step forward and finally denounce this totally outrageous show these people are putting on. I am sorry but I see it as more and more ways to keep duping the American public out of money.

Posted by: therose at November 17, 2005 12:16 AM

Dear therose:

I would hope that the FBI were monitoring how the Natalee Trust funds were being managed. Given that funds come in from all over America, and possibly the world, these funds clearly come under the jurisdiction of the FBI. I suspect if there were anything amiss with the management and distribution of the moneys, contained within these funds, the FBI would have the accounts frozen and command a thorough audit.

As for the show, the Twitty-Holloway camp's performance seems stuck in the gang-rape and law enforcement incompetence groove. Their airings each evening can be summed up, before they even appear on screen. Dr. Phil, and his sex-trade co-storytellers, seems to be more of a confusion than an asset to the Twitty-Holloway mindset. The recent Mexico call must have their minds spinning.

Harry

I think the MB community is wanting to move on and someone was chosen to approach the Twitty camp in re taking down the yellow ribbons. The holidays are fast approaching, and I'm sure many in the MB community felt the yellows ribbons would take away from the festive Christmas decorations.
However, I have to hand it to the Twittys, they were able to spin it so it came out sounding like it was their idea.

Posted by: Max at November 17, 2005 1:44 AM

I do not think there is any "coincidence" with the ribbons coming down and the phone call b/c I believe Dave Holloway said last night on Greta's show that this phone call came in several weeks, if not several months ago. Can you confirm that?

Posted by: jewels flem at November 17, 2005 9:29 AM

Hyscience,

I am thoroughly disgusted that you linked Dan Riehl's attacks on another blogger's purported lifestyle and sexual habits.

Criticism is one thing, but Dan has gone over the line. Please tell me that you do not support this unprofessional journalist! I am never again visiting RWV!

Hi Lurk,
We offered it only as information relating to the Joe gangster charade. Notice that we offered no further comments, and usually try to avoid getting too personal.

Dan is usually on target, and we all get a bit off the path sometimes. If he's a bit off on this one, we'll cut him a little slack as he's done for us in the past.

Posted by: Richard at November 17, 2005 10:34 AM

Hi Harry
Even if Beth got a call from Mexico(which i doubt )she would have had her private jet there immediatly to talk to who ever was on the phone. so Harry i believe its just another one of Beths very sad attempts to keep the story going, it sounds like a cold case and every one is moving on except poor sad Beth and truly i feel so sad for her, but its time to move on

Posted by: candy at November 17, 2005 11:03 AM

Everything about this case seems to be choreographed by the Twitty's and Holloways. Nothing they say surprises me. Jossy has been filling their heads with lies and rumors from the beginning and they buy everything he tells them. Then pass it along to us, after emblishing it a bit. If Natalee is held somewhere in capativity, I pray she is found soon or is able to escape. It's obvious her parents, (both of them) do not care to find her alive. They have been looking for a body almost from the beginning. Poor Natalee.

Posted by: flightoffancy at November 17, 2005 11:36 AM

Monsieur Harry,
Is the FBI going to do something to Jaime Skeeters? He is supposed to be one of them. Now, they have proof that he is corrupt..
I have a hard time, understanding, every time that the investigation is turning some where out of the J &K2, Dave & Beth and Inc. find something else.
If Beth got a call from Mexico, they have NEW evidence. Then Joran and the K2, are not any longer killers or rapists. Is it like that?
Then Mansur comes in the scene.
Is it anyway to find out HOW much money, Beth & Dave have been offering to the ALE? Do not think the USA would have sent 2 or 3 F-16 in a search for a missing person or sent the Marines as the Dutch Government did.
Merci de nous tenir à jour,
antoinette

Posted by: antoinette at November 17, 2005 11:46 AM

Mademoiselle Antoinette:

If Natalee Holloway happens to be in Mexico, then I suspect that she arrived there on her own accord. As for clearing anyone in this case, we have to remember that there exists no evidence that even a crime was committed. As for Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers, all we have consists of Beth Twitty's constant condemnation of them. We have no evidence of any wrongdoing on their part.

On the issue of Jamie Skeeter, I suspect, that the FBI is waiting to see how the case of Natalee Holloway's disappearance turns out. However, given the fact that both the FBI and the Dutch Forensic Institute (DFI) are dragging their feet with these tapes, I would not recommend that Jamie Skeeter travel to any territory controlled by the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Clearly, if Police Chief Dompig claims that taking advantage of someone with an adulterated consciousness (alcohol/drug affected) is a crime, then Jamie Skeeter has some concerns. Unlike the alleged situation with Natalee Holloway, Police Chief Dompig has the tapes, attesting that the incident took place, and Deepak Kalpoe's objection to the taping. Even if the "taking advantage" issue can be mitigated, the fact that the taping took place without Deepak Kalpoe's consent is a criminal act in Aruba. Jamie Skeeter, a former, senior law enforcement officer, has just warmed his own frying pan, or in French: "sharpened his own guillotine."

Lastly, I am not aware that Beth Twitty nor Dave Holloway have offered the Aruban authorities any of the moneys that they have collected in their Natalee trust accounts. That was a beneficial suggestion from a poster on our blog. Currently, the moneys are used for investigations (and rewards) that the Twitty-Holloway camp are conducting. You can appreciate how downgrading the efforts of the Aruban investigative team work directly in promoting their need for additional funds to conduct their own investigations and expenses. After all, if the Twitty-Holloway camp left the case to professional investigators, they would not require any funding (or at least very little). Besides, how would the Twitty-Holloway camp reimburse the cast of creatures sniffing all over Aruba/Latin America and making appearances on the cable news network for the benefit of our entertainment?

With Aloha,

Harry

Dear jewels fiem:

When the phone call came pales in comparison to the timing of its promotion. The phone call seems even more malignant, if it were discarded as nonsense months ago, only to surface now when the ribbons are being dismantled.

With Aloha,

Harry

I noticed that you have a poster taking issue with your link to RWV. Posted occassionaly there but noticed that the "owner" is wont to exercise his right to have whomever he wants post on "his" blog. Ir reading one does notice a certain attitude that suddenly erupts where the "owner" declares people "banned". It does nothing for the blog as it only encourages those who may have wanted to particpate to continue reading and think twice.
At the beginning of this I was a little suspicious of him as he attacked blogger Michele Malkin, well respected and a big contributor on cable. Ultimately, she was correct and his attack totally unfounded. At that point I merely concluded by his reliance on emotion that he was a woman masquerading as a man.
If you are "his" "friend" I might point out to you that your blog will stand the test of time, "his" blog and his NH information may serve as "his" 15 minutes of fame.
BTW, thank you for all your information as regards this horrendous situation. Do you think it is now coming to a close?

Posted by: Disappointedinotherblogs at November 17, 2005 3:26 PM

Dear Disappointedinotherblogs:

Perhaps the biggest disappointment, to me, is how we got so focused on the three suspects. Currently, the case of Natalee's disappearance spawns more questions and possibilities than answers. The close that will come that I can foresee is the closing of the cold case file drawer, after this case gets deposited. Whoever made Natalee disappear were professionals and, I suspect, a team effort was involved. Clearly, the characters, aired on the cable news networks, fall short in imagination to the baffling disappearance before us. Hopefully, the Mountain Brook interviews will open new avenues for investigation.

With Aloha,

Harry

Harry, Beth stated that the call from Mexico came 5 weeks ago. (On the Dr. Phil page of what's on tonight show)I wonder why it wasn't searched then, as the calls and comp times of the J2K were months ago.
Why bring that up now? As everybody guessed, to keep the guest appearances going and the MSM want to keep their ratings doubled of course. This may be considered "petty" however, I'll spit it out! Beth has no intentions of giving up her TV appearances as she has gotten her lips "plumped" , my guess is botox treatment, so she's getting ready for the long haul.
People I speak to in Alabama continue to visit Aruba at least 2 times a year.
The only thing that Riley accomplished is a drop in his support, but there will be monies "made" available to push his next campaign, never fear. Throw him in the Jossy/Twitty pot as well.
I had to just get my dose of sarcasm out. Thanks for listening.

If, as I suspect, the tapes are proven to be nothing more than a cut and paste job by Skeeter, has Skeeter broken any US laws?

Posted by: Max at November 17, 2005 06:46 PM

Harry, this is a question I would also like answered. If, as Max suspects, Skeeter edited these tapes for sensationalism and to get his mug on TV, is this a crime? I would think that it would be. Perhaps manufacturing evidence in a criminal investigation, or obstruction of justice? This man is a criminal in my opinion.

Posted by: flightoffancy at November 17, 2005 7:38 PM

Dear Max:

In a criminal, legal sense for US laws, Jamie Skeeter's concern is not so much the FBI, because his act occurred within a foreign country and against a foreign national. By confirming the "cut and past" job, the FBI would be providing evidence to the Aruban authorities that Jamie Skeeter adulterated the tapes. With that evidence, the Aruban authorities can charge Jamie Skeeter with providing them with fabricated evidence, designed to damage one of the suspects. The tapes would carry similar penalties as planting incriminating evidence. These penalties could be quite harsh.

The question for the FBI would be: why did Skeeter do it? It is from that standpoint that I feel the FBI is waiting on the results of the case in Aruba. Currently, Deepak Kalpoe is a suspect. If from some turn of events he is found guilty, then I feel the FBI will not put Skeeter in jeopardy. If, however, Deepak Kalpoe is exonerated, then I suspect Jamie Skeeter will face the firing squad. Those who aired and/or manipulated those tapes will soon follow.

We could make the analogy that the FBI with respect to Jamie Skeeter resides similarly to the Aruban authorities with Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers: we know they did something, but does what they did amount to a crime?

One thing is certain. With the tapes in the custody of the Aruban authorities, if Jamie Skeeter travels into Aruba, he could be arrested. I believe, the pause concerns how Deepak Kalpoe will fare in this case.

One last thought to ponder: did someone pay Jamie Skeeter to create the tapes? Now, the FBI will become involved if that response unfolds in the affirmative.

With Aloha,

Harry

Harry, you said
"Hopefully, the Mountain Brook interviews will open new avenues for investigation."

Do you really think the Authorities in Aruba will ever be allowed to conduct interviews of the Mountain Brook kids and adults who were on the trip? I sincerely hope so, but see no evidence of it. Beth seems determined to prevent that happening.

Here are some interesting bits about Ty Ritter who was on the Dr P show today. And it seems that, like Joe M, he is a felon.

Oh, you gotta check out the quote on his home page below.

People sleep
peacefully
in their beds
only because
rough men
stand ready
to do violence
on their behalf."

George Orwell

and from:
http://www.awinkandanod.com/ritteroutrage.html

Ty and Christine have come to realize that what they have done is both a blessing and a curse. Their hearts soar when they snatch a child from a living hell and bring them home to their loving and desperate parents. But they have personally paid a very heavy price - they’ve been imprisoned by the American government, they have lost everything they owned and Ty has lost the ability to earn his livelihood as a bodyguard because as a convicted felon, he can no longer own a firearm

Regarding posts made by candy and flightoffancy, I can always count on them to be cruel and critical of Beth Twitty. Neither must have children of their own or they would realize Beth will never rest or "move on" if the truth in this case is not resolved. The comments made are as if Beth is out looking for a lost puppy. And Harry, a question for you, regarding Steve Cape of Springdale Travel in Mobile, Al...did you ask how many trips he has booked to Aruba since June 1? It would be difficult to cancel trips if none have been booked! I will be travelling to Mobile for Thanksgiving and have a friend who is an agent there. I plan to stop in and ask for myself. Will get back to you to clear up that comment!! It just may be a bit misleading.

IMO, what happened was; someone paid him to do the job and ol' Skeeter jazzed up the results to make his employer happy. I think the employer guessed what Skeeter had done, but since it made for a better TV show he was willing to let it slide.
Thanks for the reply.

Obviously you have a personal grudge with me, perhaps from another blog or message board, so be it. I respect your right to post what you want about your lovefest with Beth, Candy and I deserve the same respect to our opinions about this case without being attacked by you, because you don't like what we have to say. Why don't you do the adult thing and just post your views and let others do the same.
