Happy Thanksgiving to all who read and comment here and to you guys who selflessly give of yourselves to entertain and make us think with your blog. May you and those you love find peace in your hearts this Thanksgiving Day.

May all those who unselfishly give of themselves to serve and protect us on this day, all over the world, our service men and women, there is no thanks that can be enough, but, nonetheless, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To all those who have served us, know that we are free because of thee, and we thank you too.

Remember two things "everytime you hear a bell ring, an angel gets its wings" and "God Bless us every one"!

Thank guys for a wonderful site. I wish you peace
and love on this special day!

As an Australian I do not celebrate Thanksgiving. November 25 has another significance for me because it is the feast of my patron saint, Catherine of Alexandria. She is the patron of lace-makers, as well as spinners and weavers. Yes, among all of the things that I have done, I am also a bobbin-lacemaker and tatter, as well as general craftsperson.

I do not hesitate to point out that I have an aunt who travelled to the USA as one of the Australian war brides and fiancees. She married her fiance when she arrived in the USA. I have 7 first cousins and numerous second cousins in the USA, although one of my cousins, Jimmy, died at the age of 53 due to a problem with his heart. He is the one who had a brain aneurysm - an hereditary condition, because that same problem took the life of a great grandfather when he was aged 48. Thomas Ball and his wife Sarah migrated with their children from Bristol in England.

Also, I had the privilege of experiencing the USA at Thanksgiving time when I was there in 1984, and yes, that means I also experienced the re-election of one of your greatest Presidents, Ronald Reagan.

So to all of you who are from the USA, Happy Thanksgiving day from this Australian.
