The links of the Sydney and Melbourne terror cells to Al Qaeda and JI

As 18 men face court, charged with plotting to commit an act of terrorism, some of the details about the case have emerged. It is alleged that one man had instructions on how to use TATP. Another member of the group has been charged with stealing items that could be used to make a bomb.
As more details emerge it is now clear that a lot of information had been passed to the police about the activities of the radical group associated with the Lakemba mosque. These people intended to commit mass murder and their plans have been thwarted.
So far, here in Australia we have not had a serious situation caused by mass bombings. Over the past few weeks, since the arrest of these wannabe terrorists, we have been learning more about those who seek to recruit people to their terrorist cause. What is clear is that they look for the young and foolish who are usually still in the most idealistic period of their lives, and they convince them that Islam is the only worthwhile system available. They fill them with nonsense about the western world in the hope that these young people will never know the truth about their own decaying system.
The evidence comes from statements of the wannabe suicide bombers, as they express their eagerness to become "martyrs" for the cause. At the same time, the real terrorists such as Abu Bakr continue their attempts to recruit and direct the terror cells as they were going about their business of preparing the bombs that were going to be used against such targets as Lucas Heights and Casseldon Plc. Other possible targets are the NSW electricity grid, and the NSW water supply.
These arrests have proved to be a catalyst within the Muslim community. There are many who continue to believe that it is not possible for a Muslim to commit such an act, but there are others who do not want to see their reputations being ruined by the work of a few. The Muslim community is very close-knit and in the past they have not been all that willing to expose those who have murder on their minds, however, events such as the Bali bombings, as well as other bombings around the world are working to change the mind of the community. They are now more willing to report suspicious activity and to turn in those who are plotting to kill others. The other Muslim religious leaders are starting to be more vocal in denouncing the violence.
The Australian recruiter had been using similar material to that of the Italian and European recruiter:

The method is also similar to that used by the Indonesian (Malaysian) recruiter Norodin Top. They are downloading material from the Internet and they are using that material to convince their victims that what they are doing will lead them to heaven.
The methods are also similar to that used by the leader of the London suicide bombings:

In the clip shown on British television yesterday for the first time, Mohammed Sidique Khan urged British Muslims to take part in jihad (holy war or spiritual struggle). He also accused community leaders of being "content with their Toyotas and their semi-detached houses".Khan, widely regarded as the ringleader of the group that killed 52 commuters and injured about 700, has previously been seen on video blaming the British public for the July 7 attacks on the capital's transport network.
In the latest extract aired on Channel 4, Khan is followed by a message from al-Qaeda's deputy leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri. Khan said: "Jihad is an obligation on every single one of us, men and women, and by staying at home you are turning your backs on jihad, which is a major sin."
It is worth noting that the terrorists, especially those who are stirring up the passions of the Muslim community are using a false concept of what is or is not sin. It is a concept that bears no resemblance to what we who are Judeo-Christian understand by sin. One only has to refer to the Psalms to get a good idea about what is considered to be sin, or who the wicked might be, or one only has to read the beginning chapters of the prophet Isaiah, to see exactly how warped is the idea that non-involvement in the murder and mayhem called jihad is a sin.
He added: "Our so-called scholars today are content with their Toyotas and their semi-detached houses."They tell us ludicrous things like 'You must obey the law of the land'. How on earth did we conquer lands in the past if we were to obey by this law? By Allah, these scholars will be brought to account.
"If they fear the British Government more than they fear Allah, then they must desist in giving talks, lectures and passing fatwas and they need to stay at home -- they're useless -- and leave the job to the real men, the true inheritors of the Prophet (Mohammed)."
Zawahiri is then heard to say: "These are the scholars of beggary, working to beg the pleasure of (Queen) Elizabeth, head of the Church of England." He also branded the Queen one of Islam's "severest enemies".
I think that more has been given away in the above quote from Ayman al-Zawahiri than is realised. Have a good look at the quote above, for al-Zawahiri has stated the obvious and we must not forget that Muslims involved in jihad do not care about the law of the land. In other words they revel in lawlessness and urge Muslims to be anarchists. This kind of attitude indicates that we are dealing with people who are not model citizens.
