Abortion, Abortion, Abortion, And The Other 'Life' Issues - Who's right and who's left?

Topics: Life Issues

Dan's Riehl World View has a post on Drudge flashing his light over the Left getting all 'frothy at the mouth' over some alleged paper of Alito's showing his personal views on abortion. Apparently, abortion advocates have decided to go after Alito on other grounds and try and change the terms of the debate through a multi-million dollar ad campaign targeting vulnerable Senate confirmation votes. Dan has the links ...

The Left's constant endorsement and support of abortion and euthanasia, both death-oriented matters, causes me to wonder just what is it with our friends on the Left and their infatuation with death? They have no problem protecting the guilty, but insist on punishing the innocent!

There are basically three ways to die which are thought by some to be ethical and in which the government is involved. These are abortion, euthanasia and the death penalty.

Of these three, the left generally opposes the death penalty but approves of abortion and euthanasia. The right generally opposes abortion and euthanasia but approves of the death penalty.

So, basically, the left approves of the modes of killing which will most likely kill the innocent, but opposes the mode which will most likely kill the guilty.

The reverse is true for the right. They approve of the mode of killing which will most likely kill the guilty, but oppose the modes which will most likely kill the innocent.

In other words, the right is trying to protect the innocent, while the left is trying to protect the guilty.

In fact both sides are "right" but "left" of actually being "right."

Abortion, euthanasia and the death penalty should all be "left" out of the political arena, and simply made illegal. The guilty deserve to be punished, but shouldn't be killed, and the innocent deserve life, and shouldn't be killed. It would for our country to get it "right, and have both sides take a center of the road approach to life, that truly respects the sanctity of human life, claimed by both sides of the political arena to be a political position that makes them ethically and morally "right." (And as for the "right to die" enthusiasts, killing yourself, no matter how you cut it, is the taking of a life, even if it's your own.)

What if both sides came together and decided that the guilty should always be punished, but murder is never justified; and at the same time, both sides came together and said that the innocent never deserve punishment, and certainly don't deserve killing? Would we all not then trully be on solid moral and ethical grounds, and then, be in a much stronger position to tell Islamofascists, that killing people that are not engaged in a declared war, and on the battlefield, is wrong?

Then, our only problem would be convincing the Islamofascists, that the entire damned world is not a battlefield!!!
