A forgotten war - Rwanda
Topics: International NewsRwandan Hutus flushed out of Congo - World - theage.com.au
It seems that we have forgotten the strife in Rwanda but it seems that the Hutu have been hiding out in a neighbouring country. As rebels they have been terrorising the local population but the armed forces of the Congo have been busy flushing them out.
This is terror of a different kind since it is ethnically motivated. The Tutsi and the Hutu have been at war for a very long time. When the blood flowed in the streets of Kingali, the world was ready to look on and condemn those responsible for the violence.
With this latest news it could be that the tensions in Rwanda might in fact be the cause of further strife. We will just have to watch and see what happens next in that region.
