The MSM's 'War' On 'The War On Terror'
Topics: Follies of the Mainstream MediaMore than half of all stories (848, or 61%) focused on negative topics or presented a pessimistic analysis of the situation, four times as many as featured U.S. or Iraqi achievements or offered an optimistic assessment (just 211 stories, or 15%). - Media Research Center

I gave up watching the three evening newscasts long ago, as I've found that they deliver some of the more egregious examples of leftist media bias on a nightly basis. Of course, my judgment of this bias has been purely anecdotal. However, it no longer needs to be, thanks to Rich Noyes' absolutely brilliant report published by the Media Research Center. Noyes puts facts and numbers to what most conservatives already know: the mainstream media has done everything it possibly could to portray the war in Iraq in an extremely negative light. Considering the war's falling approval numbers, their slanted coverage appears to be having the desired effect.
Some of the reports more remarkable findings are as follows:
61% of stories concentrate on failure or a pessimistic analysis of American operations, with only 15% presenting a positive view.
During this year, the negative news percentage has grown from 52% in February to 73% currently.
20% of all Iraq stories have concentrated on car bombings or terrorist attacks.
The media has featured only eight stories focusing on the heroism of American troops, while producing 79 on their misconduct.
It gets worse, read the whole 18 page report.
