The Jihadi Nuclear Bomb and Methods of Nuclear Enrichment
Topics: Understanding Islam
Islamic terrorists are plotting to bring a nuclear bomb to a neighborhood near you, and the chatter is getting louder.
And the chatter has been preceded by real events as far back as 2001, when an al Qaeda operative was arrested as he attempted to enter Israel through the checkpoint at Ramallah. The operative had a bomb strapped to his back that Mossad first believed was a radiological devise but later discovered, as verified by UPI, that it was a tactical nuke.
YNetNews reported on October 17 that a Terrorist defining himself as 'No. 1 Jihad warrior' published an 80-page 'nuclear-weapon-making encyclopedia' on the Internet.
Amongst the numerous documents published on Islamic Internet websites instructing readers on how to prepare various kinds of explosives, a "nuclear-weapon-making encyclopedia" was published recently. The SITE Institute, appearing to be covering much of the same material, reports on a 14-lesson manual compromised of over 250-pages of text and illustrations, which provides lectures of the history, chemical and physical properties, instruction, and application of nuclear radium bombs, electromagnetic bombs (E-bombs), and classical explosives and rockets, that was recently distributed to members of jihadist e-groups.The "Encyclopedia" was published on 6 October in the Islamic Internet forum "al-Firdus" (Paradise) by a person nicknamed "Lion of Islam". A link to a slightly different version of the "encyclopedia" appeared on 9 October in a Yahoo discussion group called "Mujahideen."
The "encyclopedia", which consisted of nine lessons and approximately 80 pages in Arabic, was published under the title "Jihad's nuclear bomb and the way to enrich uranium" as "a gift to the Jihad warriors' commander, Sheikh Osama Bin Laden for the Jihad for the sake of Allah."
The author, dedicating the composition as a "present to the emir of believers, Shekh Usama bin Laden, for jihad and the sake of Allah," impresses that its lessons were synthesized so that the reader may gain the experience with ease, "at arm's length - or in other words, in the kitchen".
On October 1, an article in The Australian reported that in the preceding 12 months, influential Islamist jihadist websites have carried an increased discussion on the ethics and strategy of using weapons of mass destruction as part of the global terror campaign.
In the week when state and federal governments in Australia have announced tougher rules to monitor and restrict possible and suspected terrorists, we have to take this discussion very seriously.
In February of this year, authorities reported that a Pakistani urged al-Qaida to obtain nuclear weapons.
WASHINGTON - A wealthy Pakistani businessman who's being held at the Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, prison camp for suspected terrorist ties urged al-Qaida operatives to acquire nuclear weapons for use against U.S. troops and said he knew where to get them, according to American investigators. On January 25, 2002 CNN reported that the al Qaeda terrorist organization was building a serious weapons program with a heavy emphasis on developing a nuclear device, according to an exhaustive review of documents discovered in Afghanistan.
The allegation, contained in documents filed recently in U.S. District Court in Washington, also identifies Saifullah Paracha, 57, who has an import business in New York, as a participant in a plot to smuggle explosives into the United States and to help al-Qaida hide "large amounts of money."
The apparent al Qaeda documents were found in a Kabul house reportedly used by al Qaeda operatives. Afghan police took CNN to the house soon after the Taliban withdrew from the city in November. And a book written by a former FBI consultant claims that al-Qaida not only has obtained nuclear devices, but also likely has them in the U.S. and will detonate them in the near future."I don't have any doubt that al Qaeda was pursuing nuclear, biological and chemical warfare capabilities. It's not our judgment at the moment that they were that far along, but I have no doubt that they were seeking to do so," U.S. Undersecretary of State John Bolton told CNN on Thursday. "It underlines just how serious the threat of the use of these weapons of mass destruction could be, and why it's such an important part of the global campaign against terrorism."
None of this is comes even close to providing conclusive evidence that Al-Qaeda or any other Islamic group has the capability to strike inside the U.S. with a nuclear device. However, they are most certainly interested in doing so, and we need to be hearing a lot more about what all of us can do to help stop them. Trusting "good" Muslims to turn in "bad" Muslims, or even depending on non-Muslims to figure out how to know the difference between the good guys and the bad guys that want to kill all of us, doesn't sound to me like something I'm willing to bet my life on. How about you?
So can you think of a better reason to pursue militant Islamists from every nook and crany in the U.S. to each and every far corner of the earth?
