In last night's post entitled, "PA - Hamas admits responsibility for March blast: Aljazeera Ignores The Admission," I wrote of a Muslim friend whom I meet with at a local Starbucks and who I know to be an intelligent, well traveled, businessman that, like many Muslims, buys the propaganda put out by the Arab media, and particularly that of Aljazeera. I said that he's a good friend and that I enjoy our discussions, but I doubted that even the admission by Hamas for the blast that killed Palestinians would be believed by him, unless it came from Aljazeera (or other Arab press/web sites)- it would somehow be perceived as a fabrication of the non-Arab press, and that yes, "Al-Jazeera and the Arab Media are Propaganda Spewing Machines." As is the case with my Muslim friend at Starbucks, so it appears to be with our new Islamist reader in New York city.

In his 2004 NRO piece, "Dealing in Death," Steven Stalinsky said that as the war on terror continues, the voices coming from the Arab and Muslim world celebrating death over life have been heard more often than those criticizing this philosophy. In his piece, he referred to an editorial in the Lebanese Daily Star on May 13, 2004, "Berg's death augurs ill for Arab societies," that warned of what might happen if the issue of the Nick Berg beheading was not addressed (and it wasn't!):

"The region's kings, princes, and presidents need to learn a valuable lesson from this abhorrent incident: that fractured societies produce real-life theaters of shame like the Berg murder in a systemic manner, and that similar fractures are infecting their own societies.
