Democrat in Ky. House switching to GOP

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Having been elected as a Democrat, Rep. James Carr is now bolting the party of the increasingly far-left, because the Dems' stand on abortion, gun control, and gay marriage is not exactly his cup of tea!

Hopkinsville state Rep. James Carr said today he's switching political parties to become a Republican, less than a year after being elected to his first term as a Democrat.

Flanked by U.S.. Sen. Mitch McConnell and U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield at a Hopkinsville news conference this morning, Carr said he's more ideologically attuned to the GOP on issues such as abortion, guns and gay marriage.

"We didn't leave the Democrat Party," Carr said. "The Democrat Party left us."

Democratic Party leaders accused Carr of misleading them about his political leanings last year, and vowed to mount a challenger next year.

I can't believe that a Dem challenger worries Carr too much, since the Dems apparently prefer someone who supports gay marriage (when marriage can trully occur only between a man and a woman - never saw two guys make a baby, together), the murder of unborn children, and our right to own guns being restricted or nixed.

In summary, a smart political move on Carr's part!
