Cervical Cancer Vaccine breakthrough
Topics: Health IssuesA new Cancer vaccine breakthrough is being hailed, following the successful development of a vaccine for cervical cancer, by an Australian doctor . A trial of the vaccine has indicated that it works to prevent the spread of the pre-cancerous human papiloma virus.
Will this lead to an end of the dreaded Pap smears?

Sadly, it is not the end of HPV. The vaccine only is effective against either two or four strains depending on which source you get your info from. That said, it is effective against the two most common strains to cause cervical cancer, so this IS a big stride in the right direction. I fully intend to have my 11 yr old daughter innoculated when it is approved. and I'll urge my wife to do so as well, just to be sure....
