Bush (Almost) Nails It: Frames battle of 21st century in comprehensive address
Topics: War on Terror - the issues.
President Bush pulled no punches yesterday, in nailing down once and for all his justification for the war on terror and the true face of our enemy - Islamic radicalism. In effect, though soft peddling for political correctness, he seems to be coming close to understanding that the problem of Islamic radicalism is in fact Islam itself, but still, not close enough to fight on all the levels that need to be addressed. Nevertheless, he took some solid steps in the right direction, and laid out a step-by-step plan for confronting the "21st century's "ideology of hatred."" I believe that he could have only been more clear and exposed a better understanding of the nature of the beast we face, if he had explicily spelled out that our enemy is Islam, not just Islamic radicalism, for they are in fact one in the same:
President Bush went on the offensive Thursday with a spirited justification for the war on terror that sought to refocus Americans on what he sees as the central undertaking of this century: defeating the forces of Islamic radicalism. The president went on lay out a comprehensive strategy to defeat terrorism:
In a speech that outlined his administration's step-by-step plan for confronting the 21st century's "ideology of hatred" and that restated why the battle is so important, Mr. Bush sought to address not only waning attention to the war on terrorism but also the debate over exactly why the US and the West are targets.Citing 9/11 and a string of terrorist acts since 2001 stretching from Bali to London, Bush said, "No act of ours invited the rage of the killers - and no concession, bribe, or act of appeasement would change ... their plans" for burying liberty.
With those words, the president is striving to end the debate over whether continuing terrorist acts are a response to US and Western policies - for example the war in Iraq - or a fulfillment of radical jihadists' own ideology.
• Preventing attacks before they occur. As I pointed out yesterday in my piece on "Iran and the 'Develfish Of Islamofascism,'" we still seem to be stuck in the mold of thought that focuses on the motivation of terrorists having something to do with Islamic extremism and a "bevy of pseudo-explanations like poverty, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, etc., when in fact "the motivation that the terrorists themselves openly proclaim" is not Islamic fundamentalism - it is Islam, itself. And until we begin to address that fact and deal with the problems inherent in that pseudo-religion and it's theocratic and political ambitions for world domination, we haven't yet began to trully engage the head of the beast - that "devilfish" called Islamofascism which is Islam and the intolerance, hate, and violence it spreads to every land it touches, like a virulent plague let loose to contaminate and destroy the lives of not only those who become subjected to it's laws, but also those who refuse to accept it's law and teachings.• Improvement of homeland defenses against terrorists.
• Killing and capturing terrorist organization leaders.
• Denying weapons of mass destruction to "outlaw regimes" and others who would share and use them.
• Deny the sanctuary of outlaw regimes. (Bush accused Iran and Syria of a "long history of collaboration with terrorists.")
• Deny militants the control of any nation, as the Taliban once had in Afghanistan.
So, my letter to President Bush, should be so inclined as to write it, with him having now laid out his plans to defeat terrorism, would begin by telling him that he has only begun to define the face of our enemy, but it's a start in the write direction. However, I anxiously await his awakening to a true understanding of the real cause of terrorism, and his understanding that the cause of terrorism began 1400 years ago with the prophet of war - Mohammad, founder and initiator of jihad, the alleged receiver of divine inspiration laid out in the Koran, which is undisputedly, "a manifesto for the conquest and destruction of all Western civilization and the establishment of a global anti-man, anti-mind theocracy."

Related: Ibn Warraq on Islam (From Robert Spencer's book, "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam, page 11, 2005, Regnery Publishing, Inc., Washington, DC) - The theory and practice of jihad was not concocted in the Pentagon.... it was taken from the Koran, the Hadith and Islamic tradition. Western liberals, especially humanists, find it hard to believe this.... It is extraordinary the amount of people who have written about the 11th of September without once mentioning Islam. We must take seriously what the Islamists say to understand their motivation, [that] it is the divinely ordained duty of ALL (emphasis mine) Muslims to fight in the literal sense until man-made law has been replaced by God's law, the Sharia, and Islamic law has conquered the entire world... For every text that liberal Muslims produce, the mullahs will use dozens of counter-examples [that are] exegetically, philosophically, historically far more legitimate.
