Another case of human bird flu in Thailand

Another case of bird flu has been confirmed in a woman in Thailand. She contracted the disease from birds on an infected farm.

While this is still not at the pandemic level, nations the world over are working to be prepared for the deadly H5N1 virus. To this end, a summit was scheduled here in Australia.

And while Vietnam has asked for aid in order to help protect her citizens, in the meantime Australia has plans to vaccinate her population of 20 million and to this end research is being undertaken to find an effective vaccine. Trials are under way but a vaccine might not be ready until next year.

And today we learned that bird flu has been detected in Canada birds, and it will take a number of days to determine whether the birds are carrying the strain of the avian flu that is lethal to humans.
