On Bloggers Reaction To Julie Myers As Head Of ICE,

Julie Myers is the niece of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Richard B. Myers and she married Michael Chertoff's current chief of staff, John F. Wood, on Saturday. She is President Bush's nominee to head the the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security.

Bloggers across the blogosphere, representing various sides throughout the political spectrum, from the center and the right as much if not more so than the left, with all being vociferously opposed to what appears to be an exercise in cronyism. Myers comes lacking in expertise, background, temperment, and credibility; it is our duty and obligation as conservativesis to support what's good for America FIRST AND FOREMOST, not whatever the GOP and President Bush choose to do.

I am a conservative long before I am a Republican, and as with most of us from the Center-right, we expect BOTH quality and performance from the party we support, within which BOTH faith AND values are included. Cronyism, exemplifies a lack of all of these, and simply cannot be tolerated. The obvious nepotism issue makes the problem even worse. President Bush has made a terrible mistake, and needs to be made aware that we cannot and will not stand for anything less than putting our country first!
