More Lowdown On Lodi: Judge sets bail at $1.2 million for Lodi father in terror case

Topics: War on Terror

Do you remember "Camp al-Lodi"? What had started with a Muslim ice cream man and his son, had soon blossomed to a fifth member of the Pakistani community in Lodi being arrested in a federal terror investigation, although none of the five have been charged with terrorism involvement - yet. Subsequently, the son(of the ice cream man) who had already been held on charges of lying to authorities about attending a terrorist training camp, was indicted on the more serious charge of providing material support to terrorists - in other words, a terror charge. The ice cream man mentioned here is Lodi resident Umer Hayat, the father of 23-year-old Hamid Hayat, who was indicted Thursday on a terrorism charge and remains jailed without bail.

In an update to the case, the Lodi News-Sentinel reports today that a federal judge on Monday ordered Lodi resident Umer Hayat released on $1.2 million bail while awaiting trial for lying to agents who were investigating terrorism. Hayat won't immediately be released from custody, so that the U.S. prosecutors time to appeal the judges ruling.

Although the judge has set reasonably stern bail conditions, including home detention, electronic monitoring and phone taps. But prosecutors believe that Hayat is a flight risk, having already been caught trying to leave the country, in spite of the judge's contention that Hayat wouldn't leave the country and leave his son "holding the bag." The judge's contention seems to fly in the face of logic.

But there's indications that the FBI knows more, because it's certain that Umer Hayat knows an awful lot about terror camps in Pakistan. And, although Umer Hayat is technically only charged with lying, there's a lot more to the story then simply "telling a story" to the FBI.

According to federal court documents obtained by The SacBee, Hamid Hayat and his father, Umer, claimed the (Other)suspected Lodi jihadists reported to Muhammed Adil Khan and Shabbir Ahmed, two imams they say came to the Lodi Muslim Mosque from Pakistan to groom students for terrorist training camps. Khan and Ahmed are being held for allegedly violating immigration laws, and through their attorney have denied being involved in terrorist activities.

The court documents apparently describe Hamid Hayat's transformation into a holy warrior, a jihadist.

In the documents, the Hayats are said to have outlined the following chain of command:

The alleged Lodi-area jihadists "would take their direction" from Shabbir Ahmed, who answered to his former madrassah (religious school) teacher in Pakistan, Adil Khan. Khan, in turn, took orders from the operator of the terrorist training camp near Rawalpindi, Fazler Rehman - whose "boss" is Osama bin Laden.

Does this sound like a guy that simply had a lapse of memory and spoke a simple falsehood or two to the FBI? Or, more likely, a terrorist up to his eyeballs in conspiracy to either support, provide for, enable, conduct, or all of the above, to the deaths of Americans in hospitals and malls. After all, his son Hamid had this to say:
Hamid advised that he specifically requested to come to the United States to carry out his Jihadi mission. Potential targets for attack would include hospitals and large food stores.

Hamid observed hundreds of attendees from various parts of the world at this camp. According to Hamid, these attendees rotated into the camp depending on their stage of training. Camp attendees were given the opportunity to choose the country in which to carry out their jihadi mission including the United States, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kashmir and other countries.(and he C-H-O-S-E the good ole U.S of A.)

Yes, there are secular Muslims among us, but too many that regularly attend mosques share the Islamist agenda, and that agenda is not for the good of America, it's for the Islamization of America.

One need only look to what a Muslim, who is not among the Islamists, has to say on the issue of the Muslim agenda in America - Muhammad Hisham Kabbani, of the Islamic Supreme Council of America. According to Daniel Pipes, "in Kabbani's reliable estimation, such "extremists" have "taken over 80 percent of the mosques" in the United States. And it's not just the mosques; its schools, youth groups, community centers, political organizations, professional associations, and commercial enterprises that also tend to share a militant outlook, hostile to the prevailing order in the United States and advocating its replacement with an Islamic one."

Although we in America, must indeed follow the rule of law, and fairness and the legal process must apply to every citizen of our nation, there are those who are among us from foreign shores, and those of a particular religion from within our midst, who wish to harm us, and they have no plans to provide us a peaceful and legal process to be judged before we are killed in explosions while we shop, eat, or sleep. We can't stick our heads in the sand and pretend that all is well, and that we can simply hop and skip along our merry way, playing the terrorist's game of using our system against us. When it comes to terrorism, the suspicion of terrorism, and reasonable indications that someone wishes to harm our citizens, we MUST err on the side of caution. Funding one's son to attend a terrorist training camp and knowing the chain of command of an al-Qaeda cell, is not the act or knowledge of your everyday ice cream man, making his way through life in America.
