Uneasy conservatives sticking with Roberts

While John Roberts' involvement in aiding homosexual activists in a high-court case has raised concerns among family values advocates, most pro-life conservatives remain cautiously optimistic about his nomination to the Supreme Court. Roberts has previously stressed that a client's views are not necessarily shared by the lawyer who argues on his or her behalf, so the nominee could claim he did not agree with the homosexual activists he helped.

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council echoes the same sentiment:

But Perkins said his group intends to be heavily involved in the confirmation process, to "as Ronald Reagan said, 'Trust, but verify'" Roberts' record. Read the story here.
