On Michael Yon's 'Battle of Mosul IV' (Updated)
Topics: Iraq

Michael Yon, author of "Danger Close," is currently in Iraq. His four-part series, "Battle of Mosul IV," in which he will attempt to provide an unbiased and accurate picture of the struggle and its potential for success, is to contain not so much conclusions as findings offered for consideration.
The first installment begins with "Prelude."
I've followed Mosul for some time now, and know people there. His post is interesting, informative, and on target. From a very recent communication with people in the area, I learned that Mosul's position on the list of Iraq's most deadly cities has been again, downgraded - to number 4. Sure, still deadly, but better than number 3. Every little bit helps!
Update: Just learned tonight via phone call from Iraq that Mosul is back up to number 3. Number 4 didn't last long!
