Michael Schiavo: Guardian Of The Year?

Topics: Terri Schiavo's Life Matters

In the second of the two most bizarre recognitions I've seen come to pass in my lifetime, the Florida State Guardianship Association (names, phone and fax numbers of Exec. Comm. and Directors here), bestowed its Guardian of the Year Award on Michael Schiavo for carrying out his wife's wishes not to be kept alive artificially despite a drumbeat of withering criticism.

Of note is the name of the recent president of the Florida State Guardians Association showing up once again - Joan Nelson Hook. You may recall that a few months ago Judge George Greer was "honored" by the West Pasco Bar Association - the first most bizarre recognition I've seen come to pass in my lifetime!

The president of that association? Joan Nelson Hook. "Hook is an attorney that specializes in assistance to the elderly. One has to wonder what kind of "assistance" that would be if she's involved in honoring those who violate the law to murder the innocent. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Center for Independence, Inc., the Hospice of Pasco (Florida's Gus Bilirakis is also a former board member. He was also a board member of the Suncoast Hospice, as well as donated to George Greer's judicial campaign. He also was the one who added to Florida House bill 3121 that a feeding tube is a "live-prolonging method" as opposes to...well...giving someone food) and the Florida State Guardianship Association."

There was a time in the not-too-distant past, that common sense, decency, and values mattered, and that such things as love, caring, food, and hydration were considered basic needs to be provided by loved ones, regardless of their disability. But of course that was before execution of one's spouse(sic) by judicial fiat would have been considered a crime.

Danny at JackLewis.Net has the story...

All those Schivao characters are sitting board members of Suncoast Hospice. Felos, Rice, Gus. Those lawmakers made that law to profit themselves. Period~!!! Or they just care about the dying.
