Friday Night Natalee Holloway Updates With HarryTho Commentary (Updated)Topics: Natalee Holloway
Here are our Friday night updates on Natalee's disappearance, starting with some of the coverage at other blogs, and then working our way to this evening's HarryTho updates and commentary:
Scared Monkeys is carrying stories on, "Aruba Police Search for Man Who Anonymously Gave Tip; A midnight jogger" (According to the AP, the Aruban authorities are searching for a late night jogger who may have information into the case of Natalee Holloway's disappearance), and "Clint Van Zandt Interviews an Emotional Beth Holloway Twitty."
Dan at Riehl World View is also carrying the Jogger story, and writes that the man called a few days after Holloway disappeared and claimed to have seen something, and the Aruban police want him to provide sworn testimony about what he says he saw. The man told the hot line operator he lived near the Marriott Hotel - around the area where Natalee was last seen - and often went jogging there late at night.
There's a very touching email going around that we received this afternoon (and others as well - hat tip Barbara M), directing us to "Dave Holloway Will Always Be Natalee Holloway's Daddy," written by Patrick Hurley. I noticed that Dan posted on this too, and has the address of the fund for Dave Holloway. If you're a parent, you can't read Hurley's article without choking up.
From HarryTho's 8:39 Email: Nancy Grace (Jane) hosted a newspaper person from Mountain Brook, AL who essentially said the Natalee Holloway story has faded from the front pages. He claims that the cable news networks and the Twitty family have hyped-up the story just to keep it alive and for ratings. In short, the newspaper man said the people in Mountain Brook were a little fed up. Interestingly, Josie Mansur had no comments for the Mountain Brook position.
On the question of interrogations, Arlene Ellis-Schiper corrected Jane and her support person, Ellie, that Joran had been away from interrogation for only 2 days verses the 8 being reported by Nancy Grace. Arlene followed up on unfounded criticism by Nancy Grace of the Aruban effort, and worked on Nancy Grace's degrading comment about the Racquet Club pond. Jane defended Nancy. Arlene stated that all the available resources in Aruba have been allocated to the search for Natalee. Lisa, a guest, tried to ameliorate the disagreement with the fact that few answers are forthcoming, and a result causes unnecessary anxieties. Nelda Blair, a former prosecutor, agreed with Arlene.
Jane next brought on Michelle Suskauer who pushed for solving the problem of Natalee's disappearance, so that tourism can regain its volume. Josie Mansur jumped in and stated that tourism has increased. All hotel rooms in Aruba are booked solid with American tourists.
On the question of possible charges against Joran van der Sloot, Arlene mentioned those already common: murder and kidnapping; however, she announced a new one that has been rumored: sexual misconduct with a person not conscious. Nelda Blair stated that without proof, the prosecutor can charge from the statements made by the defendant that implicate him in wrongdoing.
A blurb running below the presentation stated that the defense lawyers are accusing the prosecution of hiding evidence from the defense, while Beth and Josie talked about the tension developing from day after day of no answers.
From HarryTho's 10:00 PM Email: Fox News hosted Josie on new searches. Josie stresses new searches of the landfill and the ocean where two teams of divers will look over some satellite photo identifications. Josie believes Joran will be extended another 30 days, and also feels that the Kalpoe brothers will be arrested this next week for further questioning. Interestingly, Josie swears by the gardener's testimony.
From HarryTho's 10:40 PM Email: MSNBC News (Joe) hosted Clint van Zandt who talked with Deepak Kalpoe, today. Clint refused to profile Deepak on MSNBC. He just described the kid and mentioned good eye contact. Deepak is listening to his lawyer. Deepak agreed that if his lawyer agrees to a polygraph, then he will take one. I suspect the lawyer will demand a "go-no go" polygraph in that, if Deepak clears the polygraph ... a grade of 5 or better ... the Aruba prosecutions clear Deepak completely. Deepak had to explain to Clint that Aruba has no plea bargaining provisions. I got the impression that Deepak was completely innocent. Also, Deepak rebuked Clint that the investigation was going nowhere. He informed Clint that the investigation was really beating the bushes.
Dave Holloway came on and reiterated the old Mansur lore. When asked what he would like to know from Deepak, he answered that he wanted to know what happened that night.
Beth Twitty was asked about knowledge of a site some half-mile offshore that the divers will check out. Josie confirmed that two divers would check out the offshore site.
Tito Lacle revealed that a male jogger witness is being sought by police. The jogger is known to jog near the Racquet Club pond late at night. He said that no DNA testing has been scheduled for Satish and Deepak Kalpoe. All defense lawyers are confident that their clients are innocent.
Arlene responded to Julie's question on the issue of evidence hiding, and believes that a judge will decide that the defense will have access to enough evidence to defend their clients.
Grimm evaluated a dim position that the prosecution is at a stalemate. Ted Williams speaks of probable cause, and feels that they have no evidence - they're grabbing at straws. Jim Hammer bets on the election to keep Joran in custody. Arlene bets on Joran remaining in custody.
HarryTho's position on Joran: My position is that Joran doesn't know the details of what's going on. I doubt that he was involved at all in Natalee's disappearance. At worst, like Steve Croes, Joran is covering for someone after the fact. In the absolutely worst case scenario, I bet that a close friend ... really close ... asked Joran to cover for him. Why? Joran may not know anything. I suspect, if Natalee is dead, she was done in by a son or sons of high-level Aruban families. To me, Natalee being abducted, after Joran left her, is a more plausible scenario than what has been speculated to be the case by most of the talking heads.
HarryTho's final email of night: My take on the meeting between Clint van Zandt (former FBI Profiler) and Deepak Kalpoe, and why it is that Clint seemed puzzled as to why Deepak would not turn on Joran, as Joran has been alleged to have turned on him.
Let me help out here. Deepak is not concerned about Joran's comments about his possible involvement in Natalee's disappearance, because, first, he did not do it. Second, Deepak understands why Joran would think that he (Deepak) may have killed Natalee, because he knows that Joran had nothing to do with Natalee's disappearance and is guessing at what might have happened. Joran and Deepak did split up. Joran believes that Deepak, knowledgeable of Natalee's whereabouts, could have driven back and had his way with Natalee. The kids really do not know what happened. Joran's accusation of a possible involvement by Deepak is just a first impression guess at what could have happened based on Joran's limited knowledge of the events.
Remember, even if the kids do know what happened, then the interrogators will never flush them out until they know what happened. Without precise knowledge of how Natalee disappeared, all ploys intended to trap the kids are easily dismissed as such by the kids.
Update: Reader "Molly" offers an interesting observation - Has anyone read the tickle sites for Deepak, Joran, and Paul? They contain fake confessions, photos, etc. The paragraphs mock the Holloways and the Sept. 4th date. The photos show a drinking, wild Joran. Someone has been adding and changing these sites for a couple of days. Here's the site for Joran, and here is the one for his parents.
More as available...

I would charge the three boys and the rotten judge father with murder. They know what happened, so give them all 100 years in prison to choke with the information. Or declare war on Aruba, take those murderers to texas, I'm sure
if we talk to them, they will talk, of course the
texas police would have to bring me in to help. I would handcuff them with their hands behind their backs, spread eagle their legs, and kick them all in the nuts until they sing. I'm sure one hour each would do the trick. Of course I would do it for free. My eyes water everytime I see Natalee's mother on tv. Your right Nancy Grace, the Arubian people are garbage and trash, their people kill and their suck police let them get away with it.
By the way, the Mafia in Sicily was started becourse the police were in the rich peoples favor. Example, rich kid rapes and kills poor sicilian girl, rich people paid off police case ended. So the Mafia stepped in and cut the rich kids penis off, and let him bleed to death. Thats what I want to happen in Aruba.

For the record, I do not recall my banning from Dan's site. What transpired was merely a difference of opinion of what could be posted on his site. Dan, as many of you may know, caters to a predominently pro-Alabama audience. In that regard, a post of mine, commenting in contradistiction, erupted in an outburst from his readers. As I recall, I chose not to post at his site. As for Dan, he deserves all the credit for the time and effort that he has put into this case. Dan and I are searching for the same resolution. We merely have different opinions and positions. Please refrain from using this post to dump on Dan. He does not deserve it. Dan deserves a lot of credit.
As for the Alabama following, well, let me say this. The last time members of my family interacted with any Alabamans was at Little Round Top. Please understand that somethings take time.
