Support The Troops: Send Them A Note

"Bruce Kesler is a friend of mine. He founded of Vietnam Veterans for a Just Peace in '71 (joined by John O'Neill) and played a major part in organizing the Swift Boat Veterans Against John Kerry.

Today, he was listening to Hugh Hewitt interview Matt (BlackFive), Matt Heidt (Froggy Ruminations), Lt. Smash, Austin Bay and Michael Yon. In the discussion, he heard that since President Bush mentioned America Supports You and suggested Americans leave a note for the troops deployed, relatively few have made the transition from TV to URL.

"It seems that after the Pres's address the other night, asking people to go to the website to offer support for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, 83, 000 went. Assume 32-million watched. That only equals 1/4th of 1%; or 1 message for each two troopers there. Even bad direct mail gets 1%.

Could you, and pass on to the other milbloggers, urge readers to go to the site the pres. mentioned (I don't have it handy; I went then). I remember it was set up by DOD.

Even if 800 do it, that's another 1% of the .0025%, but every bit counts, one by one, to the troops."

If you have not already, I think Bruce's idea is outstanding. A simple post by each of us with an easy link to http://www.americasupportsyou.mil/ would net far more messages for the troops.

You may even consider passing the idea along to bloggers you know so we can create a groundswell of support that the troops can see and be assured by.

Please consider this. It's the least we can do."
