Cord blood may become source of stem cells
Topics: MedicineThe CellResearch Corp. in Singapore announced Monday it has discovered the outer lining of umbilical cords is a rich source of stem cells. CellResearch said it is seeking patent protection for its discovery.

It is already a well known fact that cord blood is a rich source of stem cells. Far more is to be gained by encouraging the use of an umbilical cord donor program than the current push for embryonic stem cells.
