Adult stem cells can multiply

Topics: Medicine

Researchers at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh have found that adult, or postnatal, stem cells have the same ability as embryonic stem cells to multiply. Although there are serious ethical concerns involving the use of embryonic stem cells, such concerns don't apply to the use of postnatal or adult stem cells. A spokesman for the group says that "My belief is that this study should erase doubts scientists may have had about the potential effectiveness of postnatal stem cells."
