Marines hammer Iraqi insurgents as insurgents attempt to fight backTopics: Middle East News and Perspectives
An offensive of more than 1,000 Marines backed by Cobra helicopter gunships and F-18 jets are hammering ENEMY fighters believed to be followers of al-Zarqawi. More than 100 of what is mostly foreign terrorists have been killed in the battle area, a region of northwestern Iraq near the Syrian border that Marine commanders called a sanctuary for foreign fighters . The assault was directed at an area along the
long, Syrian border that has served as an open door for foreign TERRORISTS cross at will into Iraq to join the insurgency. The area is heavy with foreign insurgents from many different areas including Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the Palestinian territories.
For insight on how the war is reported by different media, look here where the title of the article focuses on Marines hammering insurgents and then go here where the title of the article focuses on the insurgents fighting back. Both articles are for the most part, the same story about the same battle. Regardless of how the story is spun, it's a tough fight under tough conditions, but the insurgents(mostly foreign terrorists) are getting the short end of the stick, they will continue to be hammered, and what they once thought to be their safe haven, is no longer a haven. As to the haven being a haven in the first place, we should have taken care of the damned area long ago. As I said in a previous post yesterday on the very same issue, it's time to get back to using an overwhelming and disproportionate force, as we appear to be doing now, finally, to kill the enemy and get this damned insurgency put to bed, once and for all!
