Iraq cabinet deal falters as Sunni rejects post

Iraq's parliament continues it's floundering ways in yet another failure to get the government off the ground. This, while the insurgency continues to take advantage of the loss of momentum that was initially gained for the new government post the historical elections. The latest blunder involves appointing the post of human rights minister before even discussing the issue with the appointee.  Reuters reports that "the debacle over the human rights post underlines the divisions in government that have hampered efforts to tackle violence. Insurgent attacks escalated over the past 10 days, with at least 300 people killed in suicide attacks and bombings."

(Reuters) - Iraq's parliament approved six new ministers on Sunday hoping to fill the political void that has stoked the insurgency, but one minister turned down the job, leaving the cabinet still incomplete three months after polls.  Read more ...
