Insurgents in Iraq increasingly target top government officials and military recruits

While politicians continue to squable on the make-up of the new Iraqi government, 11 weeks after general elections, the insurgent/terrorists have had a chance to regain some of the momentum lost by the election which was won by the Shiite majority and the Kurds. Their favorite target seems to be government officials, the higher in rank the better, and military recruits.

A suicide bomber killed six people Tuesday outside an Iraqi Army recruitment center in Baghdad, as insurgents stepped up attacks on targets ranging from would-be recruits to top military officers in their homes. The latest bloodshed came as politicians continued to wrangle over the make-up of the next government, more than 11 weeks after general elections, a delay that many fear plays into rebel hands.          More ....
