A NEW hi-tech test for cervical cancer
which can give women their results within minutes rather than weeks is
being developed for use in the NHS, it was revealed yesterday.
Scientists have developed an electrical probe which gives an instantaneous diagnosis of cancerous cells in a woman's cervix.
It has already been successfully tested on 400 women and is now being further refined so that it can be deployed in hospitals.
The development could spell the end of the traditional pap smear.
