Daughter Charged in Alleged Assisted Suicide
Topics: Euthanasia advocacyA 14-year-old girl who claimed she shot her father to death to help him commit suicide has been charged with second-degree murder. She was arrested on March 13 after deputies responded to what they thought was a prank 911 call giving her address. The investigators found the girl's father, Garret Rich, dead and were told by the girl, unemotionally, that her father had taken his own life. Later, she acknowledged shooting her father, but only after finding him in pain after he had tried to shoot himself to death. Her father had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and another to the chest.
