The Media's View Of Red Verses Blue: A regrettable limit on life, but is it real?

Topics: Terri Schiavo's Life Counts

While I don't consider Terri Schiavo's life a red vs. blue issue at all, in terms of the media - it's nothing but that. As one of the founders of BlogsForTerri  and personally an advocate of the sanctity of human life, I have read thousands of emails and comments from folks coming from all over the political spectrum - liberals, independents, conservatives, those of faith, and those of no faith. About 75% have favored Terri being given the opportunity to be rehabilitated with her parents and a chance to live, despite the media's push polls. Liberals that have identified themselves as liberals or Democrats have for the most part, been just as supportive as the conservatives that identified themselves as such.

However, from  USNews.com we have a view regarding the red-versus-blue in the national media.

(...) Think of the Terri Schiavo case as another red-versus-blue issue. Congress, Republican-dominated and therefore mostly red, asked the federal courts to take a fresh look. The federal judiciary, in its customary imperial blue, contemptuously told Congress to take a hike. It wouldn't delay the execution for even a few days. For that, you need to be a convicted cop killer.

(...) Color the mainstream media blue. Photos of pro-lifers usually show people who seem to be unbalanced, waving Bibles, rolling their eyes crazily--right out of the playbook for antiabortion coverage.

(...) ABC and CBS are under fire from red bloggers for conducting what critics consider "push polls," i.e., public-opinion surveys constructed to achieve the correct pro-death result.

(...) Disability-rights activists are an important constituency defending Schiavo's right to live, but since journalists cannot afford to depict them as unbalanced or foolish, they have been rendered almost invisible.

So, for the national media the red-verses-blue issue, but for real people, life matters a little more than politics and when it comes to the life of an innocent woman it's more black and white.

It is just an example as to the way that the MSM use subterfuge to promote things like universal euthanasia.

One of the things that I have learned about my own long range involvement in this matter is that there is a group of people who are mature enough to overlook their political differences because they recognize that this is a case of extreme injustice. It is the one reason why people who are of different religious and political persuasions are able to work together.

In the past, America has shown how it has contempt for the lives of certain human beings. I am reminded of one such story, that of the boxer known as the Hurricane. The real killer was a witness who testified against the Hurricane. As soon as this travesty of injustice was discovered by the more caring people in society, they banded together to help this man prove his innocence.

I can remember seeing a moving about a woman accused of killing her child when in fact he had a rare disease. Once again, a group of compassionate people banded together in order to prover her innocence.

Here in Australia we had the case of the disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain. Lindy said that a dingo took her baby, and the first inquest agreed with her. However, the N.T. police decided to do their own investigation and they used the services of a woman forensic pathologist who determined that sound deadener in the Chamberlain car was baby blood. Lindy was indicted for murder. She was found guilty by her peers that was a decision based upon circumstantial and as proved later not very credible evidence. As I studied that case I recognized that the star witness used flawed reasoning in coming to her conclusions. Evidence to the contrary was presented but was dismissed by the jury. They had made their minds up before the trial had even commenced. In the end, Lindy Chamberlain was vindicated. They found the baby jacket and that proved that Lindy did not murder her child.

We must always forget about our political leanings when there is an overwhelming act of injustice being perpetrated. We always must err on the side of what is morally right, or as it was stated by G W Bush, we must err on the side of life.

One reason that this case is standing out, is the fact that the evidence presented that this woman would not want to live has been tainted because of a series of factors involving those involved in the case. At the bottom of the pile is the fact that there is a real possibility that Florida's Justice Greer is corrupt and that he has been allowing corruption and guardian abuse for several years.

I probably have no right to speak up on this matter because of my foreign status, yet I cannot be idle when i see the injustice in this case, where a woman is being deprived of her life when there is no living will in existence.
