Terri Schiavo Can Still be Rehabilitated, Nobel Prize-Nominated Doctor SaysTopics: Terri Schiavo's Life Counts
In a previous post I wrote of seventeen medical experts who have filed affidavits on behalf of Terri Schiavo, all expressing the opinion that more medical testing is called for in her case.
Many of the doctors recommend specific treatments and/or expressed optimism that her functioning could be improved. Several stated an opinion that based on video tapes they have seen, they believe she is not in a persistent vegetative state. All of their affidavits can be read in the March 5 post.
Now we are hearing of another medical opinion that addresses the potential rehabilitation of Terri Schiavo:
- from LifeNews.com
"Despite the contention of Terri Schiavo's estranged husband Michael and courts that have allowed him to starve her to death, a doctor nominated for the Nobel Prize says he believes medical therapies are still available that could help Terri party recover from her disabled state."
Dr. William Hammesfahr is an internationally recognized expert on cases of brain-injured patients. He has been identified in helping patients with chronic brain injuries from many causes actually leave long term disability, and return to work.
Terri Schiavo's injury, hypoxic encephalopathy, is a type of stroke that he treats every day with success.
"We, and others I know, have treated many patients worse than Terri and have seen them regain independence and dignity," Hammesfahr said.
"There are many approaches that would help Terri Schiavo," Dr. Hammesfahr explained. "I know, because I had the opportunity to personally examine her, her medical records, and her X-rays."
"It is time to help Terri, instead of just warehousing her," he added. "She would have benefited from treatment years ago, but it is not too late to start now.

Given that the Nobel Committee doesn't release their nominee lists for 50 years, how the heck do we know he's been nominated?

Well, well....how about that! Sean Hannity's wet dream came out to be another lie to support the bigger lie.
Does FOX do backgound checks or is the lie so important to their ratings and the support of the GOP agenda (no matter what) that they force themselves to believe it?
There is more to "life", conservatives, than the biological portion of life. I thought you people were spiritually superior to this liberal Christian and knew this, but life goes on after we leave our bodily shells.
Christianity is big on that fact - check it out sometime and you'll begin living life as truly spiritual beings.
There's no dignity of life, biologically, in her state.
I guess Tom DeLay wins - no one knows that he is headed toward a legal abyss. Terri Schiavo is the perfect political football for him and the political right. Have they no shame?
