Parents Seek to Give Schiavo Communion

(...) After another round of losses in the courts, Terri Schiavo's parents kept watch over their dying daughter Saturday, seeking permission to give her Easter communion as their attorneys acknowledged the fight to reconnect the brain-damaged woman's feeding tube was nearing an end.

Paul O'Donnell, a Roman Catholic Franciscan monk, said the family is urging Schiavo's husband to allow his wife to receive the sacrament of communion at sundown Saturday, when Catholics begin celebrating their holiest feast of the year. Schiavo, who cannot swallow, would have a minuscule piece of bread and a drop of wine placed in her mouth.

George Felos, attorney for Michael Schiavo, appeared earlier this evening before the media cameras to discuss the "Holy Communion" flap. The Scaife/Coors backed Schindles appear once again to be lying or exaggerating. Anything to villify Michael, to make him appear to be an ogre.
Felos explained that Holy Communion was administered through the feeding tube a week ago just before its withdrawal along with "last rites." The COURT has ordered that she is to get no nutrition or water other than the ice chips normally part of hospice care to keep the mouth from getting dry.
However, the court has ruled that she may receive Holy Communion ONE MORE TIME near her death, a small (to prevent choking) bit of wafer, wine, or both placed on her tongue by a priest. Michael, unlike Terri's family, is only following the orders of the court.
