Getting Syria Out Of Lebanon: Making the Taif Accord workable is the vital task facing the opposition
Topics: Middle East News and PerspectivesFrom the Daily Star in Lebanon comes an informative editorial on the present day utility of the agreement sponsored by Saudi Arabia and hammered out in the Saudi town of Taif in 1989 that led in 1990 to the cessation of hostilities in the 15-year Lebanese civil war. The columnist suggests that It is "time to wake up and get real about forging a Lebanon for all Lebanese, and forging the Taif Accord into something workable is one place to start."
Meanwhile, President Bush has issued Syria a stark warning to get out of Lebanon, now!
