AAD: Green tea cream results 'tantalizing'Topics: Health Issues
A green tea cream shows improvement in rosacea AND it seems to also have natural anti-aging and anti-acne properties.
A green tea extract in hydrophilic cream is showing promise in the treatment of papulopustular rosacea, California researchers report.
A randomized study of women showed that treatment with the green tea extract cream produced a 70% improvement in rosacea compared with untreated women.
"This is tantalizing," said Dr. Guy Webster, chairman of the poster session and vice-chairman of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.
"These women obviously had rosacea and blushing. There is not much you can do for this. But the faces were looking distinctively red and they are coming out not distinctively red."
However, Dr. Webster cautioned the work is in the early stages and needs confirming, adding that larger studies with multiple investigators will be required.
