Khatami warns US of 'burning hell' as Iran marks Islamic revolution
Topics: Middle East News and PerspectivesIt seems that we have heard this fire-eating rhetoric before. Who was it that said, "The whole nation will rise in defense of its right to live," and that "Their arrows will go astray or backfire, God willing?" I believe that we also heard that it would be suicide to attack his country. And unless my memory is worse than I think it is, didn't Iran fail to beat Sadaam Hussein's "fade-away and run-and-hide" army during a conflict that lasted eight years?

Iranian President Mohammad Khatami warned Thursday that any invader
would be met by a "burning hell" as tens of thousands of people braved
blizzards to join rallies for the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic
revolution.
"All the people of Iran are united against any attack and any threats," Khatami told a rally in the snow-bound capital. "Any invader will find Iran to be a burning hell for them."
As the clerical regime marked the 26th anniversary of the revolution that ousted the US-backed shah, Iranians were urged to turn out en masse in cities across the country and give a show of unity in the face of mounting international pressure over its nuclear programme. More...
