The results of last month's national elections in Iraq are to be announced later on Sunday.

A spokesman for the Iraqi election commission, Farid Ayar, said the announcement would be made at 1600 local time (1300 GMT).

He said objections would then be heard over a three-day period before the results were officially confirmed.
