Iraq Seized 200 Suspected Insurgents During Poll
Topics: Iraq ElectionsThat the election in Iraq occurred at all is nothing short of a minor miracle, given the enormous threat of violence and death to majority of the Iraqis that wanted to participate in democracy. Then, theres was the little problem of foreigners arriving to assist the insurgents who were funded by the Baathists protected by the Syrians - well, you get the picture!Overwhelming odds were overcome to make it happen, but the Iraqi's showed the world that the promise of freedom is greater than the threat of death. And now the common men and women of the rest of the Arab world are scratching their heads and saying, "Why not me?"
Another reason besides the great stimulus of freedom was the fact that the Iraqi security forces detained more than 200 suspected insurgents, including four Arab foreigners, in a crackdown that helped reduce attacks during Sunday's election, the interior minister said Monday.
