Government sources: Israel will not retaliate militarily
Topics: Middle East News and PerspectivesIsrael will not launch major military action in
retaliation to Friday night's suicide bombing in Tel Aviv, which killed
four people and wounded dozens, senior government sources said
Saturday. The government, however, will increase political pressure on
Syria for backing Islamic Jihad, which claimed responsibility for the
attack, and the Palestinian Authority to act against terror.
In a videotape made prior to the Friday suicide
bombing that killed four people in Tel Aviv, bomber Abdullah Badran
declared that the attack was intended to do harm to the Palestinian
Authority, which he said served the interests of the United States.
