Tsunami survivors 'eating leaves'

The United Nations says hunger is endangering Asian tsunami survivors
in outlying villages of Indonesia, as the death toll from the Indian
Ocean disaster has soared above 226,000.
A UN official in Meulaboh, the second-biggest city in Indonesia's Aceh province, says emergency aid drops will have to be sharply increased to avoid hunger in outlying areas.
Daniel Augstburger, head of UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Meulaboh, says not enough help is reaching people outside major urban areas.
(...)The new figure lifts the global death toll from the tsunami disaster to 226,566. Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono says the true extent of the catastrophe defies description. "Perhaps we will never know the exact scale of the human casualties," he said.
