Lesson from forefathers helped spare Island at quake epicentre
Topics: Southeast Asia Earthquake and TsunamiBANDA ACEH, Indonesia
It
had been almost 100 years since a tsunami smashed into Simeulue Island

the hills!
That collective memory saved almost the entire population of the Indian Ocean island even though it was the closest point to the epicentre of the December 26 earthquake and resulting tsunami.
