Court forces Muslim women to remove veil

If a Muslim wishes to live in a Western society, then the Muslim should be expected to conform to the laws of Western society without special priviledges and religious exemptions. In fact, much of the quests of Muslims for special considerations are "in your face" acts to gain Islam special stature over other faiths in order to conquer or force the "infidels" into dhimmitude. In Muslim lands, non-Muslims are treated as second-class citizens, but in non-Muslim lands the inverse does not occur. As a matter of fact, many Islamic countries not only treat their Christian minorities as second-class citizens but also bar them from building churches, while Western states let their Muslims build mosques freely.

A Muslim woman who said she would rather die than show her face in public must remove her veil while giving evidence in a trial, a New Zealand court ruled.

The Auckland District Court ruled that Fouzya Salim, a witness in a fraud case, and another Muslim woman must show their faces to the judge, lawyers and female court staff but can be concealed from public view, Radio New Zealand reported.

The women had been fighting since last year a defence lawyer's application to have their veils lifted in court so their demeanour could be assessed.

The Afghanistan-born Salim, who has lived in New Zealand for 10 years, has never left her house without wearing a traditional burqa, which covers the entire body.  Read more..    -End item

This woman sounds as though she has way too many issues to consider other than waste her time fighting a law that everyone else must comply with. I hesitate to say it but anyone that wants to stay covered up inside their house and never go out unless covered from head to foot, including one's face - needs to get a life, and join-in with the society that she moved into of her own accord. Her actions would indicate to me that she needs a  little cheering up and some neighborly counseling from her local mental health nurse.
