An official report says the multinational relief effort in parts of Indonesia's tsunami-hit Aceh province is in chaos, as the number of people presumed dead continued to rise and the UN warned some communities remained stranded.
"The west coast of Aceh continues to receive aid and assistance in a chaotic manner," said the report by a 34-member inter-agency team including the Indonesian Government, the US military, UN agencies and others.
The report cited "the continued absence of a systematic response to the multiple needs of the population" and said the provision of health services lacked co-ordination and information was fragmented. Read more...

There has been a low intensity war for independece in Aceh ever since the Dutch concurred the island of Sumatra in the mid 1800's. See acehnet.tripod.com/asnlf.htm for more information.
Any bets that the Indonesian Military is taking this opportunity to weaken areas that support an independence movement?
Remember a couple of weeks ago, when the Indonesian Government was bitching about our Navy. They were bitching about training flights over Indonesian air space, ships conducting exersizes in Indonesian waters. They were also bitching that the Navy was delivering aid to areas without Indonesian government consent.
It will be interesting to see what happens in Aceh over the next six months, and how the MSM will spin it.
I will lay even odds that six months from now there will be parts of Aceh that will receive next to no help, will be suffering from sickness and starvation and the UN/MSM will be standing around like some moonshine drinken hillbillies "a-wonderin howin this couldva happened". It will happen because the Indonesian Government is trying to wipe out some pockets of rebels with UN consent or blindness.
Anyway, the Indonesian government is trying to act like a friend to the U.S. sometimes but act like a Islamofacist state other times. I don't trust them as far as I could spit them.
