Topics: Southeast Asia Earthquake and TsunamiWe all knew that this was coming, all it took was just a little time. There is so much good in the world, but it there is always bad to go with it. People are dying while these jerks work overtime to think of ways to scam people trying to help others.
-From Netavisen (Norway) Dec 30. Warning of fake letters.
Only a couple of days after the tidal wave disaster hit South East Asia, the first scams to take advantage of people willing to donate have surfaced.
Warnings have been issued against the scams trying to take advantage of the devastating disaster that hit South East Asia December 26, so far claiming 87,000 lives.
One of the scam letters is from the so-called Foundation for Victims of Earthquake, and it pretend to be an organization that collects money for the victims of the catastrophe. However, none such organization is registered anywhere.
In order to avoid scams, people are urged to only donate money to well known organizations like the Red Cross, Save the Children, and Medecines Sans Frontieres.
