Bin Laden calls for Iraqi vote boycott- Audiotape
Topics: Middle East News and PerspectivesOsama is at it again, this time backing al-Zarqawi and the Sunnis.
-From Aljazeera Dec 27 7:00 PM GMT:
Al Jazeera satellite channel received on Monday a new audiotape purportedly from al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, in which he calls for boycotting Iraq's general elections, scheduled next month.
In the recording, Al Qaeda leader also backed Jordanian-born militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi as the al-Qaeda network's leader in Iraq.
The station quoted the tape in a news summary Monday but refused to air it.
The United States has placed a $25 million bounty on both bin Laden and al-Zarqawi.
Several Iraqi political groups, including the Sunnis, have been calling for delaying the country's January election as a result of the ongoing violence all over the Iraqi cities, but the Iraqi government backed by the U.S. President George W. Bush insisted on holding the vote as scheduled. This is the second tape made by Al Qaeda leader to surface this month.
Earlier this month, another audiotape was posted on an internet site, in which a man, purportedly bin Laden, praised those who carried out the recent attack on U.S. consulate in Saudi Arabia earlier this month and called on militants to stop the flow of oil to western countries.
In October, bin Laden released a videotape in which he took responsibility for the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States and criticised Bush's foreign policy.
Also in October's statement, bin Laden said that the U.S. could avoid similar attacks if it stopped threatening the security of Muslims world.
Information on Bin Laden's last tape (actually a probable CD instead of a tape) is available here.
InTheBullPen and Jawa Report have provided some commentary on the Bin Laden message, although I would offer a slightly different take than their's regarding Bin Laden's intentions in appearing more as a diplomat than a terrorist.
I have previously posted on this matter many times in the past in that I am certain that we in the West are all too quick to attempt to "read" something into or out of what is said or not said by Islamic terrorists. Islamists(radical or fundamentalist Muslims) have no problem whatsoever saying anything or behaving in any manner so long as it enhances their cause or that of their perception of Islam. Their goal is the dhimmitude of the infidels and the infidel's submission to the Islamic fundamentalist view of Sharia law.
A few of my previous posts that offer some insights into why I believe that bin Laden's latest appearance as a "diplomat" is simply a tool to disarm his adversary (non-Muslims and moderate Muslims) in order to gain an advantage (and why we shouldn't read too much into his new-found love of a role as a diplomat are:

These previous posts address various issues in which deceipt, role-playing, and hidden agendas are ingrained into every action of the Islamists in order to further Islamofascism. Here we use the term Islamofascism because there is simply no better way to describe their 'politicized' fundamentalist Islamic theology.
