Jerusalem Post Reports: PA orders end to incitement

The Palestinian Authority leadership has ordered PA-controlled media to stop all incitement against Israel and Jews, the London-based Arabic daily A-Shark Al-Awsat reported Monday.

The order also pertains to video clips, songs and music videos which call for the continuation of the armed intifada, the paper reported.

According to the report, the order was given 24 hours after Prime Minister Ariel Sharon urged the Palestinians to put an end to incitement as a prerequisite to the resumption of talks based on the road map peace plan.  Read More...

In unrelated but promising news reported in the Arab News:

GAZA CITY, 29 November 2004 -- Palestine Liberation Organization chief Mahmoud Abbas won the endorsement of one of the main Palestinian armed factions yesterday before pledging to stop anyone but the official security forces from carrying weapons.

Abbas also obtained UN and Egyptian support for January's landmark election.

Abbas, accompanied by Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qorei and interim Palestinian Authority President Rauhi Fattuh, had separate talks in Cairo with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and UN Middle East envoy Terje Roed-Larsen.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon meanwhile looked set to end his 15-month-old boycott of the Palestinian leadership after expressing a willingness to hold talks with new PLO chief Abbas whenever he wanted. Read More...
