Dutch Immigration secretary to Dutch imams: Learn Dutch

Topics: International News

It sounds like the usually absurdly tolerant Dutch are becoming less tolerant of radical Islamic  fundamentalism. On Friday, a popular  Dutch lawmaker urged a halt to non-Western immigrants, and the shutting down of radical mosques. Now we see that Rita Verdonk, the Dutch immigration secretary, had a meeting today with several imams.

Zacht Ei is reporting the story today in Holland (thankfully he translated the Dutch for us):

"The encounter produced some intriguing moments. For instance, one of the imams didn't want to shake her hand, citing religious taboo as the reason.

Today, Mrs. Verdonk had to use a translator to converse with several of the imams. Commercial broadcaster RTL Nieuws just showed two imams fully agreeing with Mrs. Verdonk. Both of them of course spoke Dutch already."

Yesterday, a Dutch lawmaker had said that the country's democracy is under threat and called for a five-year halt to non-Western immigration in the wake of the killing of a Dutch filmmaker by a suspected Muslim radical (using 'suspected' is ridiculous, the killer was a Muslim radical). Some might argue that democracy is under threat world-wide and that halting non-Western immigration (and deporting Muslim radicals) might very well prove to be something that is worthy of considering even in the U.S., as politically incorrect as that may sound. Nonetheless it is time to consider the matter.

We have already seen the results in Europe of uncontrolled non-Western immigration which until the van Gogh murder was largely ignored. There are peace-loving Muslims, but there seems to be more and more radical muslims (at least the radical Islamists are more vocal and very few moderate Muslims speak-out against them), and the U.S. and the West collectively should stop toying with these people while there is still such a thing as democracy. Sharia law does not lend itself to the freedoms we have all become accustomed to in the West.
Cudos to Zacht Ei..
